Spring 2023 Hammer Holders!
From Unknown: “This past week was Rebecca’s first week of rugby but she was still sure to give it her all. Rebbecca is a hardworking and supportive teammate and we can’t wait for her future with Purdue Rugby!”
From Rebecca (not pictured): “The teammate I wanted to pass the hammer to is Tristan for a plethora of reasons. First, there has never been a moment at practice where I’ve looked over and seen him not giving 100%. This was extra motivating as a new player coming in to see his dedication and how much he cares about this team. He leads by example in a wau that comes off as much-needed encouragement especially during hard workouts. He is incredibly welcoming, even when he’s beating me in a race after practice.”
From Tristan (right): "This teammate is always at practice and always working hard. They never complain no matter what the drill or conditioning. You hardly see this person on the field without their cleats and ready to play."
From Alyssa (left): "Megan has worked so hard and given so much to the team. She always shows up to practice even when she’s not feeling the best. She’s constantly encouraging the team and she’s always the first to offer help to anyone who needs it."
From Megan (right): "I chose this person to receive the hammer because they are one of the most hardworking people I know and I will always look up to them as a person. They are a beast on the pitch and will show up no matter what."
From Lucy (left): "It’s been great to have Katie join our team this semester and see her really give it her all. It was amazing to see her score her first try in Iowa and I can’t wait to see her score so many more with us in the future."
From Katie (left): "Bailey is always pushing herself to work harder and if she finishes workouts early she joins others who haven’t finished yet to help them feel motivated and encouraged. Bailey’s work ethic and rugby knowledge make her a great role model."
From Bailey (left): "Only having a few months of practice under her belt, Justine has quickly become an asset to our team. In her first game, not only did she get tackled for the first time, she got her first tackle, her first try, and made some incredible plays happen. There wasn’t a moment she wasn’t giving her all even if it meant running across the pitch to intercept a pass and score. Justine is an awesome teammate and an amazing person on and off the pitch and I can’t wait to see what she does soon."
From Justine (right): “Olivia is always so helpful when I don’t know what to do on the field. She’s always taking the time to explain plays and drills to me and she’s always open to trying new things to score tries. She’s such a reliable teammate on the field and an amazing friend outside of rugby. I always have so much fun around her.”
From Olivia (right): “She always helps the newer people grow to the best potential, and she pushes the older people to do their best. She has excelled at being a captain and I can’t wait to continue playing with her.”
